Benzi Joseph
My career as an engineering graduate began when I worked as a lecturer in computer engineering in Chennai, India. Moving to the UK meant taking a substantial break from professional work to focus on managing the household and raising my children.
My desire to return to teaching was tempered by the difficulties of adapting to a new educational and language environment, until in 2011, my first student approached me for academic support during her second year of A levels. In the following six months, my understanding of the British curriculum and its academic standards grew alongside the number of students attending my classes. My career in education became something more meaningful and fulfilling than I had ever imagined.
Today, I have the immense privilege of supporting more than 50 students on their academic journeys, helping them discover their capacity for growth and perseverance through maths and science. I believe in teaching problem-solving techniques that emphasise clarity, ease of understanding and long-term retention, giving them the confidence they need to move into deeper and more complex reasoning. My success is rooted in my unwavering faith in each of my students' abilities and my hard work in drawing out their potential, a commitment that gives immense meaning to my life as a tutor.
